WBC, Lineal & Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion of the World, Tyson Fury today announced that he would be ‘100% returning to the ring’.
In an interview with Boxing journalist Dev Sahni on the ‘Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions’ YouTube channel, the Gypsy King announced that he is open to a return whether it would be an exhibition fight or another event.
The Englishman, who resides in Morecambe also let slip that he is keen on a potential bout with the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua rematch, which is due to be scheduled for this summer for the chance for Joshua to win back his WBO, WBA, IBO & IBF titles that he lost to the same opponent last year.
“No one is pushing me to do anything,” said the recently retired Champion.
“But when this middleweight knocks out this bodybuilder again, there’s only going to be one man isn’t there? To sort this out”
Despite teasing the possibility of a return to boxing, Fury made it clear that it would take a lot of money in order for him to schedule a fight with the winner.
“To bring this big GK {Gypsy King) out of retirement for active battle duty, to redeem this country yet again, it’s going to cost.
“I am a prize-fighter and I do fight for prizes but it’s going to cost if you want me to a do a mission on this guy, this middleweight and show them what a real heavyweight does to them, that’s going to be expensive.”
Queensberry Promotions and Boxing Hall of Fame Promotor, Frank Warren iterated that he didn’t think it was the right time for Tyson Fury for hang up his gloves, saying,
“I understand where Tyson is, but I like fellas to fight when they are at their prime and for me, Tyson isn’t even at his prime”
This interview follows the announcement that was made by Tyson after his last fight at Wembley Stadium in April, where he told the world that he would be ‘retiring on top of the game.’
Fury’s last fight was a knockout victory over British opponent, Dillian Whyte in front of 94,000 spectators – a record attendance for an event at Wembley Stadium. He put on a dominant performance in front of his home crowd with his first fight in the United Kingdom since August 2018, before he fought Deontay Wilder and became the WBC and Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion of the World.
“It was an absolutely fantastic event,” said Fury.
“A great night of boxing. It couldn’t have gone any better to be fair.”
Shortly after losing the bout, Dillian Whyte made the accusation that Tyson pushed him after the defining punch which made him hit the canvas with more force. When asked about these accusations by Dev, Fury quickly dismissed any ‘excuses’ that Whyte may have had whilst also showing his disappointment in his 34-year-old opponent.
“it’s a bit of a let-down. He got chinned and he was going to fall on top of me, so I pushed him and his head never even hit the canvas. From the videos I saw, it was a one-sided beat down and a clear knockout.”
This exclusive news is surely going to excite boxing fans from over the world who now can’t help but to expect a return from the Gypsy King in the ring in the near future.
