HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION TYSON FURY GIVES ANTHONY JOSHUA NEW DEADLINE

Updated: Jan 31, 2023

WBC Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury revealed today in an Instagram video that there could still be a chance to see one of the most anticipated British bouts in Boxing history.

At around 10am this morning, the Gypsy King addressed his fanbase to announce that his promoter, Frank Warren (owner of Queensberry promotions) had ‘convinced him’ to give Anthony Joshua and his team more time to get the deal done and contract signed.

Fury, 34, originally posted a video on his Instagram page on Monday the 26th September, giving the former Unified Heavyweight Champion a deadline of 5pm to sign the contract. However, after no confirmation that ‘AJ’ had signed the contract, Tyson decided to put the fight behind him and instead looked to giving someone else a shot at his WBC belt.

That man came by the name of Mahmoud “Diamond Boy” Charr, a 37-year-old Heavyweight from Syria, with 33 victories (19 KO’s) and only 4 defeats. After announcing Charr to the British public in an Instagram story, the Diamond Boy was quick to reply, eager to get the fight signed. However, Fury’s new video this morning now suggests that he priorities Anthony Joshua and has put Charr on the back burner, much to the Syrian’s disappointment.

Tyson updated fans that there has been agreements in the talks for the super fight with AJ, stating,

“Now we have BT, DAZN and ESPN on the same page. They are happy with everything, they’re all happy to rock and roll.”

He also said that Joshua’s team asked for many other things that he didn’t necessarily agree with but decided to give to their team.

“You wanted to be co promoters when you’re a voluntary challenger. Guess what, I said give it to him, let him be co-promoter.

“You wanted full transparency even though you’re not an equal share holder in this party. Do you know what I said? Give them full transparency.”

The Champion continued to say that ‘the ball is really in your court son’ and expects Joshua to make an effort to wrap up the negotiations soon.

According to Fury, this will be the last deadline that he is offering the challenger and doesn’t seem to be interested in allowing contract talks to drag on for any longer,

“This is it. There is no more days, weeks, months.

“You’ve had the contract now for over two weeks and you still haven’t signed it.”

Anthony Joshua is coming off the back of a second defeat to Ukrainian Champion, Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch in Saudi Arabia back in August. His promoter and owner of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn said that his ambition was to send Joshua on a ‘World tour’ in order to build his fighter up again and put him back into contention of being the best in the division. However, after Fury called out his British rival, it was always going to be difficult for the pair to turn down one of the biggest fights in Boxing.

The Gypsy King concluded his message to Joshua with fighting words that is sure to rally the fans up even more by saying,

“You’re a beaten man and I’m a World Champion.

“Get the contract signed today, you big p***y and let the British fans have what they want. There’s no more running, you HAVE to fight me. You cannot escape. The Fury is coming… B***h.”

Whether Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua will be able to conclude talks and get the contract signed before Tyson’s renewed deadline is still a mystery. One thing is for sure, the fans want and have been wanting this fight for a long time and are eager to see what happens if these 2 colossal Boxers meet in the ring.
